About the Space
Get inspired by the rich history of the Sweet Auburn District in Downtown Atlanta. Our space offers an off-site conference room and a large program / event room. It is perfect for an offsite for your team to hunker down and get some work done and take some excursions to experience the culture of Sweet Auburn. The room is equipped with an HDMI screen for projection and training tables. We have an adjacent kitchenette and hallway space for catering or snacks. We are located in the Historic Sweet Auburn District just steps away from the Martin Luther King, Jr. Birth home, the King Center, Georgia State University, and many other historic landmarks. We have several paid public surface parking within a block.
The Legacy of Haugabrooks
Mrs. Geneva Haugabrooks’ spirit of entrepreneurship and excellence is an invaluable component within the history and cultural heritage of the Sweet Auburn Corridor. With just $300, Mrs. Haugabrooks established a multi-million-dollar company, Haugabrooks Funeral Home, that herself and her family has operated for nearly a century prior to May of 2019. Haugabrooks Funeral Home began operating in 1929 on Atlanta’s Auburn Avenue, serving as a prominent anchor for the Sweet Auburn Corridor and its legacy of black wealth. Mrs. Geneva was well known as one of the few black woman entrepreneurs on Auburn Avenue as well as a devoted community leader and avid church member of Wheat Street Baptist Church. “Mama Haugabrooks” commitment to her community and church surpassed her service as an entrepreneur and dedicated businesswoman as noted by NAACP, Urban League National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, Inc., and many other influential entities.
